Tap Top Heading
Tab Tops provide you with a less formal and modern look to any voile or curtain fabric. This heading has tabs equally spaced apart and sewn at the very top of the curtain in either the same or a contrasting fabric.
Our tab top heading is available in most of our voile or curtain fabrics and is available as a flat tab top, pleated tab top or try tie tops for a more decorative affect! When selecting a fabric for tab top we strongly advise not to choose a fabric with an open weave as the seams are likely fray.
Requesting a Quote
When requesting a quote or placing an order for tab top curtains we need to know the following information:
- Pole width, tab top heading is only compatible with a pole
- Pole Diameter
- Preferred Fullness: 1.5-2x Depending on how full you would like the curtains
The tabs can be positioned to your exact specifications, the only rule we have to stick with is that there is an even amount of tabs you can choose the spacing, width and depth. If you would like to make a statement you can select a contrasting fabric and add a personal touch to your curtains.
How to measure for tab top voile curtains:
When taking measurements we will always recommend you install your pole first and use a metal tape measure. This will ensure the measurements you provide us for a quotation will be as accurate as possible. When fitting your pole please consider the length of the tab as this should not show below your window reveal, measure from the top of your curtain pole to where you want the curtains to finish.
The tabs will be included in the overall drop and we can work out the depth required based on the diameter of your pole. The thicker your pole the longer your tabs will need to be, so please ensure you provide us with the diameter of your pole at the quoting stage.
To ensure your curtains hang correctly there must be an even number of tabs, these are usually spaced approximately 15cm apart with each tab measuring 10cm deep and a width of 4cm as standard. These measurements are a rough guide and are subject to change as per curtain width and your specifications.
Tab tops can be made pleated, similar to a box pleat including a tab creating structured look with less dressing required. Choose to have your tabs over lapping creating a criss cross affect or even try tie tops to add some fun! If you are interested in having something different please do not hesitate to contact us, we welcome any new ideas that we can experiment with.
Once your pole has been successfully installed, measure from the top of the pole to where you want the curtain to finish. By giving us the exact curtain drop will mean less room for error at the production sage. If you want your curtains to sit on the floor measure to the floor, if you want them to hoover deduct 1 cm to ensure you can smoothly run your hand underneath them. If you would like your curtain pooling or puddling on the floor you will need to add approximately 30cm, this is however a personal preference and we would therefore recommend experimenting with draping fabric on this floor to ensure you get the exact look you are after.
Some of our poles are ready for immediate despatch, from experience it is worth waiting a little longer to ensure your measurements are exact. This is of course crucial to adding the final touches to your interior project.
